Pocahontas, the indian princess, daughter of indian chief Powhatan, is the main character in the film that has her own name. She’s a young and passionate girl, brave and with a strong will. She always asks Grandmother Willow for advice, tells her about her boubts and dreams. She always dreams of a compass that doesn’t point north, but it’s own way. She’s a beautiful and attractive woman, who atracts the attention of young settler John Smith, with whom she has a love relationship but, her fiancée Kocoum, in the same tribe as Pocahontas, gets jealous and attacks John Smith, he fights and captures Smith to kill him for having fallen in love with Pocahontas.
